Indian Reservation(인디언 보호구역)

이곡은 국내에서는 Paul Revere & the Raiders 의 노래로 많이 알려졌던 추억의 노래입니다. John D. Loudermilk 라는 이름의 싱어송 라이터가 만든 노래인데 Paul Revere & the Raiders 보다 한 3년전인 1968년도에 영국가수 Don Fardon이 먼저 불렀습니다. 그외에도 많은 그룹이 이노래를 불렀으나 오늘은 Orlando Riva Sound의 연주와 노래로 올렸습니다. John D. Loudermilk는 많은 히트곡들을 만들어냈는데 대표적인 곡은 우리의 귀에 너무나도 익은 Sad Movies 와 Everly Brothers의 Ebony eyes 가 있습니다. 위 그림은 백인들에 의해 강제로 인디언 보호구역으로 쫒겨나는 체로키 인디언들의 모습을 그린 "눈물 젖은 길(The Trail of Tears)"이란 제목의 그림입니다 They took the whole Cheroke nation put us on this reservation Took away our ways of life tomahawk and the bow and knife 그들은 체로키 땅 전부를 가져갔네 우리를 이 보호구역에 쳐박아두고 우리의 생활 방식 , 돌도끼 그리고 활과 칼 마저 가져가 버렸네 Took away our native tongue taught their English to our young And all the beads we made by hand are nowadays made in Japan 우리의 모국어도 빼앗고 우리 아이들에게 영어를 가르쳤네 그리고 우리가 손으로 꿴 구슬들은 지금은 일본에서 만들어 내고 있다네 Cherokee people, Cheroke tribe so proud to live, so proud to die 체로키 사람들, 체로키 부족 자랑스럽게 살고 자랑스럽게 죽네 They took the whole Indian nation locked us on this reservation Though I wear a shirt and tie I'm still part redman deep inside 그들은 인디안 부족 전부를 점령했네 우리를 이 보호구역에 가둬놓았네 내가 셔츠와 타이를 입기는 하지만 나는 아직도 가슴 깊은 곳에선 인디언이라네 Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe so proud to live, so proud to die But maybe someday when they learn Cherokee nation will return, will return, will return, will return, will return 체로키 사람들, 체로키 부족 자랑스럽게 살고 자랑스럽게 죽네
